Friday the 22nd
I no longer work for the great state of Delaware. My boss let me leave a whole half an hour early. But they took me out for a nice lunch, at the place of my choice, a nearby pizzeria where I like the gyros. If I had been there ten years, I suppose I'd have picked the Hilton, but I'd been on staff only since November, so IMO they were gracious to take me out at all. Both bosses (I worked for two projects) seemed genuinely appreciative of my work. From my perspective, they didn't give me very difficult stuff to do—create two dozen spreadsheets, design a couple dozen templates, and learn Cognos report writer. Monday I start at the most likely much more frenetic Bank of America.
Val should return from Omaha tonight about an hour later than planned. Weather has been really nasty. The drive to Dover this morning was positively Minnesotan. I saw only one accident, though. Schools were closed, but Joshua jr is old enough to babysit the girls, so I was able to go in. They are having a friend over for a sleepover tonight, so they cleaned their room all by themselves, yay!
I'm reading a fascinating book about the Pythagorean theorem, and one on how to write poetry. I think I'll go study, so that's all for tonight.

Dear Rogers:
Good luck in your new job, shorter commute, and various projects. I found your blog to be an absolute inspiration. After reading it, I almost felt like doing something productive. But I had a drink and waited until the feeling passed.
Fondest regards,
