Can it have been two weeks?

...and I think about putting up a post every night! I have a few minutes before Val and I go to a team-building activity at the boss' house. (read casual party) So I'm clean a lot earlier in the day than usual for a weekend. The morning started with finishing the frame around where we'll be pouring cement on Tuesday to become a concrete pad to put the new shed on. I dug out a good yard of dirt that I didn't get with the front-end loader a couple weekends back. Turned out the cut into the mound wasn't straight (parallel to the existing shed) and I wanted the two sheds to face the same way, so... I have to say I'm in a lot better shape than I've been in for some time. I habitually take the stairs two at a time, up and down, and down is a lot easier than it used to be. I'm getting better at handball, too. Apparently I'm the only one of Davis' friends whom he hasn't worn out. I felt too loyal to my friend to quit, and now I'm reaping some benefit—a new skill and better physical shape. But all the digging and wood cutting has to help, too. Last time I was in the doctor's office a week or so ago, the nurse commented that I didn't look 62. Good thing, too, I guess, because Val turns 36 in a week or so. —Yike! Her present hasn't arrived yet. Shangri-La diet book. I've lost about five pounds since I started measuring. I don't feel like I 'm eating less, but I must be. Perhaps I don't remember how much I used to eat. I feel like I'm just eating more responsibly and it's paying off. And getting a LOT more exercise. A common comment recorded in the book was that people enjoyed their food more. Maybe because they don't do it so often. I dunno—the diet doesn't feel like it's working, but it is. Unsatisfying. But I think I'll keep doing it. It's not much of a hardship to down a glass of sugar water twice a day and make sure it has a food-free hour before and after. Actually I do the fructose in the afternoon and some of the light olive oil in the morning. I've been reading the book about being organized to Val at night. More on that later. He has some interesting philosophical things to say about food. such as "Who's in control? You or the food?"
